Following a series of mediocre works, Dylan surprises with his greatest album of the 1980s, a late masterpiece. Lanois' production, as with U2 and Peter Gabriel, perfectly fits Dylan's songs and voice. Each one of these songs is great. "Political World", "Everything Is Broken" and "Most Of The Time" were released as singles and music videos. Other highlights are "Ring Them Bells", "Man In The Long Black Coat" and "Shooting Star". Another 4 great tracks from the recording sessions ("God Knows","Dignity","Born In Time" and "Series Of Dreams") have been released during the following years.
Re-released in 2003 on a remastered Hybrid Stereo SACD.
Musicians: Malcolm Burn (tamb, key), Rockin Dopsie (org), Willie Green (drums), Tony Hall (bass), John Hart (sax), Daryl Johnson (perc), Larry Jolivet (bass), Daniel Lanois (guit), Cyril Neville (perc), Jr. Rubin (drums), Mason Ruffner (guit), Brian Stoltz (guit), Paul Synegal (guit)
